Perth Hills Visitor Information
Perth Hills
Primarily a commercial term, Perth Hills refers a region that occupies part of Darling Scarp, as well as the hinterland east of it within the shires of Mundaring and Kalamunda in the state of Western Australia. In local governance, it also refers to the constituent bodies of the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council of Perth, the state capital. Prior to adopting its present name, the area was previously known as "The Hills".
Its climate makes Perth Hills highly suitable for wine production. As such, the region supports a number of wineries that contribute to its local economy. Local and visiting connoisseurs can easily sample some of the area's best products through organized tours. Notable wine-tasting (among others) tour packages include the Out and About Wine Tours, Swan Valley Tours, and Taste Bud Tours.
Perth Hills has numerous other attractions that allow locals to engage in leisure activities, as well as draw visitors to the region. Enthusiasts of culture and history can learn more about the area through a visit to some of its relevant locations, like the Darlington Gallery, Guildford Courthouse Museum, History House Museum, Kalamunda History Village, and Waterway Gallery. Others might simply want to sight-see in some of region's landmark facilities, such as the Canning Reservoir, Cordelia Gardens, Kalamunda Wet N Wild, Mundaring Weir, and Perth Observatory. People who wish appreciate local wildlife can drop by the Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Centre, Caversham Wildlife Park, or Karakamia Sanctuary.
